I honestly didn’t know what I was expecting from What We Do in the Shadows…It was something I found at Redbox and said, “Ah what the hell.” Thank goodness I did, or I would have missed one of the most underrated films of 2015.

I was pretty nervous about Ted 2. The first one was alright, but had a lot of room to grow. Plus after A Million Ways to Die, I was worried Seth Macfarlane lost his touch. I think it was about 10 minutes into this movie when I fell in love. It was right around the time when a young boy, Frank, had just been transported to the magical world that is Tomorrowland. This boy, something of an inventor, found himself in a strange new world surrounded by things like robots and spacecraft. I was hooked. Settling into Gone Girl, David Fincher’s latest thriller, I had a lot of expectations and ideas. A lot of people had tried to push this film as the film of the year. The bar was set super high as I sat down and turned it on.

Prior to seeing this film I will admit that I had indulged myself with a couple reviews. Luckily I wasn’t spoiled any story details, but I was spoiled in a different way. The reviews that I read warned that this movie was one of the weakest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That it was dry and lifeless. That Joss Whedon had lost his touch.
